Key warning signs that indicate you are dealing with a scammer.
Key warning signs that indicate you are dealing with a scammer.
Unsolicited contact: Be wary of unexpected calls, texts, or messages from unknown numbers, especially those claiming to be from banks, government agencies, or companies you did not contact first.
Urgency and pressure: "Act now or your account will be closed!" "You have 30 minutes to claim your prize!" Scammers create panic to prevent you from thinking rationally or consulting others.
Requests for sensitive information: Legitimate organizations never ask for OTPs, PINs, full card numbers, or passwords via phone, text, or social media. Any such request is a red flag.
Too good to be true: If someone promises unrealistic investment returns, free gadgets, instant loan approvals with no requirements, or lottery winnings for contests you never joined — it is almost certainly a scam. Trust your instincts.
